Encaustics Mini-Workshop with local artist Michelle Hamilton

This custom class is offered for groups between 3-6 people. Pricing indicated is per person.

Join local artist Michelle Hamilton for a fun & colorful afternoon (four hours) learning the process of painting and layering with pigmented beeswax, and applying pan pastels and oil pigment sticks to add vibrant color & carving tools for detail.

You will discover various ways to build and apply the wax pigment as well as tools & techniques for creating patterns, textures and shapes by carving into the wax to create lines and details. Michelle will also bring some of her own encaustic creations to fuel your ideas & imagination while you create and play.

You will have practice backgrounds first to play and experiment with layering both clear and colored wax. You will then create a piece unique to you on your choice of two 8x8 wood panels.

All materials will be included and there will be a small break with glass of wine or sparkling water.
